Welcome to my web site!

I am a ceramic artist/educator/writer and Professor Emeritus at Eastern Kentucky University (1989-2016).  Before that (1981-89) I taught at Broward Community College in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.  I have also been conducting research in the Amazon region of Ecuador for over 26 years (with colleagues and friends Richard Burkett and Nan Coffin, both from San Diego, CA), and before that I spent a good amount of time traveling and writing about ceramic traditions in the Caribbean and Mexico.   I currently live and maintain a studio in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and together with my studio work, I also contribute writings for various ceramic magazines.  I hope you find this site useful in allowing easy access to my work as an artist, educator, writer and researcher.  Here you will find images of my work in clay, my research, articles and books, along with easy access to my Instagram site.  If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks for stopping by!
